Future Sediments
Time as a Raw Material
From Moving Ideas to the Stratification of Tomorrow
What is Rome’s true raw material? While a casual glance might stop at the surface of marble, travertine, or tufa bricks, contemporary investigation must push beyond physical evidence. The most abundant, dense, and foundational material upon which this city rests is, in reality, Time.
Having explored the fluid, nomadic, and relational nature of thought with the exhibition Moving Ideas, this new edition for Rome Future Week focuses on the process of sedimentation. Rome is a city written in layers; every era and every generation has deposited its own vision, transforming ideas into solid matter. Future Sediments investigates precisely this latest layer: the contemporary one, still in formation, destined to become the geological foundation of tomorrow.
To grasp this invisible stratification, the exhibition requires abandoning frenzy to embrace the practices of Slow Art and Slow Looking. Understanding time as a plastic material demands an intentional slowing down that fosters profound engagement with the works. In this vision, art ceases to be a consumer good or a simple commodity to transform into a true active interlocutor.
Inside Rossocinabro, the exhibiting artists act as “core samplers” of the present. Through the use of chemical materials, pigments, sculptural installations, and hybrid languages, the works do not merely inhabit the Roman space, but actively shape its identity. Contemporary art grafts onto the legacy of the past to generate new resonances and visual energies.
Future Sediments is an open question hurled at the visitor: what layer are we depositing today? What will be the intellectual, emotional, and visual raw material that we leave as a legacy to the next millennium?

Future Sediments investigates precisely latest laye of Rome: the contemporary one, still in formation, destined to become the geological foundation of tomorrow.
